Can you imagine playing a 10-foot guitar? We have a customer who built a 10 foot playable guitar as a gift for Jimmy Buffett. He spent 2 ½ years and 1200 hours creating it. It’s really a beautiful piece of work, top notch construction and materials. Truly something to be admired.
He brought in a variety of photos commemorating the occasion. He wanted something that incorporated the “Margaritaville” feeling and we needed to work with the primary photo which had a deep black background. So building off those two items we came up with our design. We stacked two frames to get the island feel and also the size visually required for this very large piece. I purchased the rust colored linen fabric (from S R Harris – love that store) to make the top mat. A couple other tropical fabrics were purchased to incorporate around some of the photos.
Steve Driskell did an amazing job and worked so hard on this guitar. We love the airbrush work of Jimmy Buffet. It’s not a painting, a picture or a print; it’s actually an airbrush picture. Click here to read the full article on CBS Minnesota.
